Depth charges explode as LT Bradford's PBY passes overhead - the explosions occur so quickly because two the the four MK44 depth charges were fuzed to explode on impact   | 
     











Spray from depth bombs subsides as Archimede emerges from the depth bomb slick down by the stern   | 
     

Immediately after this attack Archimede stopped and sank slowly by the stern as the crew abandoned ship - the PBY's made four strafing runs during this period   | 
     


Archimede has sunk leaving an oil slick and 30-40 survivors in the water   |
