Tollerort: Accommodation ship "VEENDAM". 31. U.-Flottilla 1 hit astern, superstructure burned out, fire extinguished. 1 hit engine room, flooded. "VEENDAM" sits on the bottom, light list. U-2515 (Linder) at Helling bow room hit, bow room burned out. U-2520 (Schubart) splinter damage ballast tanks. U-2530 (Bokelberg) direct hit after ship, completely flooded. At the moment burned out. Casualties, among them the Chief Engineer. Water in the boat up to the galley, bow out of the water. U-2525 (Otto) and U-1002 light splinter damage. U-2532 total loss, sunk. U-2537 heavy damage, after ship sunk, lies on the bottom. U-2525 (Ketels) 3 ballast tanks leaking. |
