        The statements were all determined from C a r t e r.  
     
  a)  Both were captured 2 May, 1942 approximately 100 nm east of Cape Fear from the sunken Patrol Yacht "CYTHERA"(PY-26).   "CYTHERA":  850 tons, length 241 feet, crew 2 Officers and 66 Men, en route from Norfolk via the Panama Canal for Pearl Harbor, 2-7.5 cm cannons 4 machine guns (anti-aircraft) 60 depth charges, sound gear, she had been in service for 3 months, " CYTHERA: former yacht of Mr. Hurknes. Built in 1906.  
 
On depth charges: On one side a depth charge with fixed depth setting 100 feet, on the other 150 feet, were released from the bridge, no depth charge throwers.  2 depth charges were always ready.
On the question of listening and locating gear:
  She had listening gear on the bridge, no "Asdic", however radio location in the radio room.
 
     
  b)  The prisoners warned us:  off New York all was mined.  
     
  c)  Carter was aboard the "OKLAHOMA during the Japanese attack, initially received three air-torpedo hits, causing heavy damage, then sunk by Stuka-attack, no self sacrificial attacks.  
  Apart from "OKLAHOMA", "ARIZONA" and "UTAH" were sunk:, also the Americans lost 600 to 700 aircraft, the Japanese under 100.  Japanese U-boats had no successes, one was already destroyed off the harbor by a destroyer.  
     
  d)  Of the new battleships 3 were already in service.  The new cruisers run at 42 knots and have 12-12.7 cm cannon.  
     
  e)  Because the Japanese submarines have poor depth keeping they would often broach, had had little success.  Therefore, tanker traffic has been shifted and goes by the Panama Canal to the west coast of the U.S.A.  
     
  f)  About 18 April 1942 29 German U-boat men were put ashore from a steamer.  Prison Camp for Officers was a hotel in West Virginia.  
     
  g)  In England there were 300 to 400,000 Americans as invasion army.
