Later exact findings in calm weather conditions showed bulging of main ballast and reserve fuel oil tank 4 port and tearing off the wall from tension due to excess pressure from the cracked negative buoyancy tank. During listening and depth charge pursuit on 4 April repeated explosive locating by one destroyer observed. | |||||
To 1.) Occurred initially during the searching of the destroyer at irregular intervals, perceptible with the naked ear, there was also a noise in the listening gear in connection with the hard metallic blow, additionally a sound. Directly before a very well-placed depth charge series an especially loud bang was heard at all places in the boat. | |||||
To 2.) Time difference between sounding and depth charge detonation 1-2 seconds. | |||||
To 3.) The destroyer overran the boat. | |||||
To 4.) Other locating sounds were not determined. | |||||
To 5.) Depth A +90 meters, depth charged placed above the boat. | |||||
