Since it cannot be made out whether it is a fisherman or a local coastal sailor, maneuvered ahead and closed on the hound's curve. The vessel hardly stands out from the coast and seems larger than later determined at range 500-500 meters and E-motor drive. Because the vessel is a fishing cutter (15-30 GRT) I refrain from attacking, and turn to run off course. At this moment the cutter stopped and then drove at AK towards land. Because I am recognized, I decide to sink with artillery, to not betray my presence. I believe observing the surprise attack from land is unlikely, because the coast is hardly inhabited. Otherwise, the area can regarded as suspicious for U-boats at most. The whole thing is a not very sporting, but absolutely necessary measure in order not to be recognized prematurely. | |||||
